Five residents in Medicaid sting have all bonded out of jail

The five Teche Area suspects arrested as part of a statewide crackdown on Medicaid fraud have all bonded out of jail.

Frankie Williams, 55, of Charenton, was arrested on four counts of Medicaid fraud for allegedly submitting time sheets and service. He was taken to the East Baton Rouge jail and paid a bond of $4,000 July 11.

Marsha Wilson, 40, of New Iberia, was arrested on two counts of Medicaid Fraud for allegedly submitting time sheets and service logs for services not rendered. She was taken to the East Baton Rouge Jail and bonded out with $4,000 July 11.

Miranda Bobb, 28, of Jeanerette, was arrested on four counts of Medicaid fraud for allegedly submitting time sheets and service logs for services not rendered. She was taken to the East Baton Rouge Jail and bonded out July 11 with an $8,000 bond.

Brandi Edmond, 32, of Jeanerette, was arrested on four counts of Medicaid Fraud for allegedly submitting time sheets and service logs for services not rendered. She was taken to the East Baton Rouge Jail with an $8,000 bond. She bonded out July 11.

Shakeitha Lewis, 39, of Jeanerette, was arrested on three counts of Medicaid Fraud for allegedly submitting time sheets and logs for services not rendered. She paid an $8,000 bond at the East Baton Rouge Jail July 11.

KATC TV-3 reported that Wilson was an Iberia Parish Sheriff’s deputy working as a deputy, while Lewis was a Jeanerette police officer. Both were terminated from their positions.

The arrests occurred last week after Attorney General Jeff Landry’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. Nineteen in total were arrested as part of a nationwide initiative to crack down on Medicaid welfare fraud, conspiracies to commit healthcare fraud, violations of the anti-kickback statutes and money laundering.  All were arrested for allegedly submitting time sheets and service logs for services not rendered submitting timesheets and service logs for services not rendered.
