Dishman recognized nationally by Society

Haley Dishman of New Iberia has been awarded a $2,000 Stabile Scholarship from Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honor Society, for her senior year of engineering study at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. She is the daughter of Jayne and Marty Dishman and a 2014 graduate of New Iberia Senior High School.

Dishman is one of 175 recipients of Tau Beta Pi scholarships awarded nationally on the basis of high scholarship, campus leadership and service — and a promise of future contributions to the engineering profession,

An honors student majoring in mechanical engineering, Dishman is pursuing a double minor in Spanish and Music Performance.

“Haley is a great student who has excelled academically,” said Dr. Heath Tims, associate dean of undergraduate studies in the College of Engineering and Science.

In the upcoming school year, Dishman will continue undergraduate research using solar cells and 3-D printing. She plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Mechanical or Civil Engineering after graduation in 2018.
