Joseph Broussard

A Mass of Christian Burial was held for Joseph Leonard Broussard at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2017 at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church in Delcambre, with Father John Breaux officiating.
Visitation was held at 8 a.m at the Church on Saturday. A rosary was prayed at 10 a.m. in the church sanctuary.
Interment followed in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Cemetery in Delcambre.
Leonard was born on September 2, 1948 to the union of Gustavia Lewis Broussard and Avery Joseph Broussard. He was the first born of six children. He was a native of Delcambre and a resident of New Iberia. Leonard departed this world on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 12:45 a.m. at Iberia Medical Center.
Leonard was employed at Lydia Seafood Company in Delcambre and was later employed at McDermott Shipbuilding in New Iberia. He had a passion for driving heavy trailer trucks and worked for several years and later retired. He loved horses, enjoyed free hand sketching, riding his motor cycle, and playing drums. He was the drummer of the “Soul on Ice” band of Delcambre for many years.
Leonard is survived by his former wife, Estelita DeRouen Wilson; one son, Barrett Joseph Broussard; his father, Avery Broussard; two sisters, Gloria Broussard DeRouen (Roland) of Baton Rouge, and Dorothy Broussard Nezey of Lafayette; one brother, Anthony Broussard of Broussard, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by two sisters, Audrey Marie Broussard and Mary Alice Perrodin; his mother, Gustavia Lewis Broussard; brother-in-law, John Nezey; grandparents and a host of uncles and aunts.
