A Celebration of Life will be held for Ms. Marjorie Petitfils Williams, 95, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at David Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia with Rev. David Denton officiating the service. Interment will follow at a later date.

I want to start my mother’s legacy by quoting Mother Teresa of Calcuta: “ Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.”

My mother was a very special lady, she was born in Preston, Cuba. She really enjoyed traveling and has lived in Argentina, Peru and Venezuela. She made a living and retired from Torrido Village People Bank, but her calling was impacting people as a volunteer and as servant of Christ. She spent thirteen years as a volunteer at Dauterive Hospital and she was also a solid member of Highland Baptist Church. Her passion was gardening plants, fig preserves, making pralines, corn maque choux and cooking chicken stew.

She loved family reunions of any kind, holidays and visiting with family. Ms. Williams truly embodied the quote from Mother Theresa as she was always positive and she greeted everyone with a smile on her face.

She is survived by her son Richard Rex Williams and his wife, Heather; her son Michael David Williams and his wife, Clara-Ines; eight grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Ginger Patillo Williams; a brother F.J. Petitfils; and a sister Betty Buteau.

She is preceded in death by the father of her three sons Dewey Earl “Bill” Williams; her son Kenneth John Williams; her father Ferdinand John Petitfils Sr. and her mother Mary Septima Trimble Petitfils; her sister Odette Petitfils; and her brothers Preston and Bobby Petitfils.

Upholding the honor of pallbearers will be F.J. Petitfils, Ray Escuriex, Richard Rex Williams and Michael David Williams.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations be made to Bridgeway Healthcare and Hospice, 2315 E. Main St., New Iberia, La. 70560.
