A private family gathering celebrating the life of Robert L. “Bobby” Jenkins is being held Friday, October 27, 2017, at Evangeline Funeral Home. Deacon Chris Doumit will be the officiant. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
Robert, affectionately known by family and friends as “Bobby,” was born July 8, 1952, in New Iberia to Mary Catherine Doumit Jenkins and the late Robert Lee Jenkins. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 25, 2017, at Rapides Regional Medical Center, with his family at his side. He was 65.
Bobby was a hardworking and dedicated man who lived his life for his family. He was a carbide welder and worked with Weatherford for many years. Anyone that knew Bobby knew that the most important part of his life was his family. He enjoyed spending time with them, especially when they would go hunting and fishing. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and they were his heart and eyes. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Wanda Jenkins; his children Natalie Moity and Ian, Robert “Bobby” Jenkins Jr. and Tonya, Jason Jenkins and Kristen and Justin Jenkins and Hailey; ten grandchildren; his mother, Mary Catherine Jenkins; and his sister Becky Bernard and Douglas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Jenkins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bobby’s name to the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana, 445 Marquette Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70806.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Gerard Sigue and staff and to the staff of Fresenius Kidney Care of New Iberia for their care and compassion shown to Bobby.
