JENNINGS — A Mass of Christian burial for Ken Houston Viator, 77, of New Iberia, will be held at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Mermentau on Monday, October 30, 2017, at noon with Father Randall Moreau officiating.
Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Sunday, October 29, 2017, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 6 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will resume on Monday, October 30, 2017, at 9 a.m. until the time of his funeral Mass. Ken will be laid to rest in Mermentau Cemetery.
Ken was born in Midland, LA on November 19, 1940, to Elias Viator and Eve Richard Viator. He was called to his Heavenly Father on October 26, 2017. Ken served our country honorably in the Army. During his enlistment he was honored with the following awards: Good Conduct Medal, First Class Missile man (LCHR), Marksman (Carbine and Rifle), Sharpshooter (Carbine) and Basic Missile man Sam. Ken was a member of the Knights of Columbus in which he held the honor of being a 4th degree. He loved to play golf and do woodwork. Ken was also an avid fan of LSU and the New Orleans Saints. Ken was a kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ken is survived by his two sons Darryl Andrew, (Celeste), Viator of New Iberia and Lance Paul, (Karen), Viator of New Iberia; his daughter Cynthia Ann, (Rob), Picard of New Iberia; his three brothers Billy Larry, (Bonnie), Viator of Sulphur, Gary James, (Betty), Viator of Mermentau and Robert Dale Viator of Mermentau; his sister Bernadine Hanks, (Bennett), of Jennings; his five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Elias and Eve Viator; his beloved wife, Margueritte Ann Viator; his son Dwayne Alvin Viator; his brother Johnny Viator; and his sister Helen Cormier.
