Sulphur beats NISH; Jeanerette tops Delcambre

SULPHUR — Morgan Clark threw three touchdown passes and Glenn Willis rushed for 170 yards and a touchdown to lead Sulphur High School to a 37-7 win over New Iberia Senior High Friday night.

The Tors (6-2 overall, 5-1 District 3-5A) jumped out to a 23-0 lead in the first quarter and added a touchdown in each of the next two quarters.
NISH (3-6, 2-4) got its lone touchdown in the third quarter on Eddie McZeal’s one-yard run to cap a 47-yard scoring drive.
Austin Norris completed two passes covering 21 yards total to DeAndre Johnson in the seven-play drive and McZeal set up the TD with an eight-yard carry to the 1. Seth Landry tacked on the PAT.
Jaiven Creary got the scoring going for Sulphur with a two-yard carry at the 9:24 mark of the first quarter and Cade Baggett added the point after.
Clark then threw a 16-yard TD to Branden Walker and a four-yard touchdown toss to Jake Lafleur, with a safety sandwiched between, for the 23-0 lead.
An 11-yard scoring pass from Clark to Gage Rapp in the second quarter made it 30-0 at the half. Willis put the final TD on the board with his 17-yard run at the end of the third quarter.

McZeal finished with 37 yards on 14 carries for the Yellow Jackets. Norris completed 10 of 25 passes for 86 yards and Taegen Bourque completed three of 11 attempts for 52 yards.
Dylan Breaux led the Yellow Jackets with three catches for 60 yards and Johnson had three for 41.
Clark went 15-for-25 for 191 yards with Christian Trahan leading the Tors with five catches for 88 yards.
Jeanerette 44, Delcambre 0
DELCAMBRE — Shonathon Sparrow rushed for 161 yards and two scores and Ahmaad Mitchell added 126 yards and two touchdowns as Jeanerette blew open a close game with 20 second quarter points in beating Delcambre Thursday in a District 7-2A game.
Sparrow scored on runs of 22 and 15 yards and Mitchell scored on runs of six and seven yards for the Tigers, who improved to 4-5 overall and finished district play with a 2-4 record.
Jeanerette’s defense held Delcambre to 132 yards of offense as the Panthers (0-8, 0-5) were shut out for the third time this season.
Noah Broussard led Delcambre with 51 yards rushing.
Jeanerette closes out the regular season Friday at home against Lafayette Christian in a non-district game. Delcambre closes out the regular season Friday at home against Loreauville.
Central Catholic 46, Centerville 15
CENTERVILLE — Central Catholic scored 23 points in the third quarter to pull away and beat Centerville Thursday in District 7-A action.
The Eagles led 16-7 at halftime over the Bulldogs but by the end of the third period led 39-15 to improve to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in district.
Jaylon Cooks led Centerville (5-4, 1-4) with 103 yards and a touchdown rushing. Noah Verret had 100 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Centerville closes out the regular season Friday on the road at Hanson.
Sacred Heart 32,
Hanson 7
VILLE PLATTE — JT Harper rushed for 132 yards and four touchdowns and Wesley Launey rushed for 129 yards and a TD to power Sacred Heart to a non-district win over Hanson Thursday night.
Hanson stunned the Trojans (7-2) with a 69-yard touchdown pass from Stephen Rosamond to Jacob Srigley in the first quarter but Sacred Heart answered with a 54-yard touchdown run by Launey and a Harper two-yard TD later in the quarter with Harper adding a 2-point conversion following his scoring run.
Harper added an eight-yard touchdown and a five-yard touchdown in the second quarter, with Hanson blocking the PAT attempt following the first and stopping a 2-point try on the second. Sacred Heart led 26-0 at halftime. Harper added a 16-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
Three other pass completions by the Tigers (2-7) went for a total of zero yards. Hanson finished with 74 total yards.
Hanson closes out the regular season with a District 7-A home game against Centerville on Friday.
