Funeral services will be conducted for Earl Gondron Sr., 88, on Friday, November 3, 2017, at 3 p.m. at David Funeral Home Chapel located at 1101 Trotter Street with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating.
The interment of Earl Gondron to follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum in New Iberia.
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
Earl was a long time oilfield worker who retired from consulting with J. Lowe and Associates. He was widely known by his family and close friends as a lover of quarter horses. He began riding horses at an early age, passing on the love and skill of horseback riding to his children. During his oilfield consulting years, Earl began training horses for racing and shared this passion for racing with his longtime companion Brenda Touchet. Earl and Brenda turned their careers to breeding racehorses which Brenda hopes to continue Earl’s legacy in the horse racing industry.
He is survived by the love of his life and companion for 32 years Brenda M. Touchet; mother-in-law Edith Touchet; children Earl Gondron Jr. and wife, Ellen Dugas Gondron, Mitzie Gondron and companion Curtis Birch of Lafayette, Ronnie Gondron of Marietta, Georgia, Scott Gondron and wife, Trudy Derouen Gondron, of New Iberia; stepchild Alexis Broussard; siblings Dorothy “Dolly” Landry, Jane G. Day, Allen Gondron and wife, Joyce Gondron and Richard Gondron and wife, Evelyn Hebert Gondron; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one more great-grandchild on the way.
Earl was preceded in death by parents Laurent Gondron and Camille Borel Gondron; his son Rodney Gondron; and brothers-in-law Robert Day and Paul Landry.
Pallbearers will be Kelsey Gondron, Seth Gondron, Damon Theriot, Ben Proctor, Jacob Proctor, Chase Gondron and Derek Gondron,
Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Gondron Jr., Ronnie Gondron, Scott Gondron, Curtis Birch and Richard Gondron.
