FRANKLIN — A missing Centerville woman was killed in a one-vehicle crash on Sunday.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Monday, Louisiana State Police Troop I was notified of a single-vehicle crash on the U.S. 90 Frontage Road near Louisiana 3211 in Franklin. The wreck took the life of 87-year-old Marian Tabb of Centerville.

According to a prepared statement from Troop I, the preliminary investigation revealed Tabb was traveling east on frontage road in a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero. For reasons still under investigation, Tabb drove her vehicle through a wooden barricade and into a deep canal, State Police said.

Tabb, who was unable to get out of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Mary Parish Coroner’s Office.

Tabb was reported missing by her family  at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office discovered the crash scene shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday. Once the scene was confirmed a fatality crash, Troop I was notified.

Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. However, a standard toxicology report is pending. Tabb was properly restrained at the time of the crash, State Police said.
