Funeral services for Mrs. Georgianna M. Brown, 78, will be held at noon, on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at St. Edward Catholic Church, 175 W. Ambassador Lemell Dr., New Iberia. Father Thomas Vu will officiate the services. Interment will be in the St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.

Visitation will be held at Journet & Bolden Funeral Home, 711 S. Corinne Street, New Iberia, on Friday, December 1, 2017, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., with the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until time of services.

A native of St. Martinville and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Brown passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017, at 5:20 p.m. at Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia, following a brief illness.

Mrs. Brown was employed with the Iberia Parish School Board where she later retired after 40 years of teaching. She was also a faithful member of the New Iberia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. where she served as past president.

She leaves to cherish fond memories one daughter Paula Brown and one son Louis (Mandy) Brown III, both of New Iberia; one brother Bernard (Juanita) Mitchell Jr. of St. Martinville; one sister Emily Bourda of St. Martinville; one sister-in-law Zenola Mitchell of St. Martinville; three grandchildren Ashley Gregoire, Gabrielle Brown and Quintrell Thodile, all of New Iberia; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis E. Brown Jr.; parents, Bernard Mitchell Sr. and Mozella Pierre Mitchell; maternal and paternal grandparents; her brother Raymond Mitchell; her mother-in-law Eugenia Louise Gounsolin; and two sisters-in-law Charlene B. Coleman and Antonia B. Grant.

The active pallbearers will be Lindon Raymond, Bernard Mitchell III, Clayton Mitchell, Dominique Caroll, Torrey Alexis Sr. and Tyler Galentine.

The honorary pallbearers will be John N. Spencer Sr., Levator Boyd, Stephen Etienne and Grayling Gregoire, Carl Mitchell, Johnathan Mitchell and Warren Galentine Sr.
