LYDIA — A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Verna Mae Broussard, 37, at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Saint Nicholas Catholic Church with Fr. Gregory Chauvin as celebrant.

She will await the resurrection in Saint Nicholas Catholic Church Cemetery in Patoutville.

A gathering of family and friends will commence on Saturday at the church from 8 a.m. until time of service with a Rosary to be prayed at 9 a.m.

A resident of New Iberia, she passed away at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, December 3, 2017, at her home.

She was employed as a pre-school teacher at Little People’s Daycare in New Iberia.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her parents, Johnny Broussard Sr. and Mary Benoit Broussard of New Iberia; three daughters Anastasia Broussard, Ariel Broussard and Athena Broussard all of New Iberia; three brothers Johnny Broussard (Precious) of Baton Rouge, Kenneth Broussard (Christina) of Abbeville and Adam Broussard (Brittany) of New Iberia; three sisters Mary Boutte (Melvin), Christianna Broussard and Deanna Broussard (Corey) all of New Iberia; and a host of nieces, nephews, numerous relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Adam Benoit and Mary Benoit; and her paternal grandparents, Roysay Broussard and Ezola Broussard.

Active pallbearers will be Adam Broussard, Kenneth Broussard, Johnny Broussard Jr., Major Benoit, Eric Broussard, Quinton Broussard and John Dural.

Honorary pallbearers will be Quinton Broussard, Victor Dural, Johnny Broussard Sr., John Williams, Tristan Boutte, Javon Hogan, Noah Hogan, Melvin Boutte, Corey Jeanminette and Joshua Jeanminette.
