LOREAUVILLE — A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Nola LeCamus Dugas at 11 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Fr. Ed Degeyter will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. with the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. Visiting hours will resume on Monday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
Mrs. Dugas was born July 8, 1931 in Loreauville to the late Husville and Amelie LeCamus and passed away peacefully Saturday, December 16, 2017, at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was 86.
Mrs. Nola was a homemaker who devoted her life to the love and care of her family. She enjoyed cooking family meals and having everyone over for a good time. She has been a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a leader of the Children of Mary, a member of the Ladies Altar Society and a Eucharistic Minister. She and her husband, Claude, were members of the Cajun French Music Association, where they enjoyed dancing to their favorite Cajun songs. She leaves a legacy of love that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughters Claudette D. Thibodeaux and husband Barry, and Suzette D. Hebert and husband Gayle James ,all of New Iberia, and Lori D. Barras and husband Steve of Loreauville; grandchildren Michelle Senette and husband Wesley, Cody Thibodeaux and wife Sharon, Leah Thibodeaux, Dean Hebert and wife Brenda, William “Mickey” Hebert and wife Lisa, Garrett Barras and fiancée Mary Margaret Boudreaux, Alyssa Barras, and Stefani Barras Christian and husband Cody Dale; great-grandchildren Tayla Landry and husband Derek, Hunter Senette, Kinley Senette, Isabella Christian and Lincoln Thibodeaux; great-great-grandchildren Parker and Sawyer Landry; her brother, Leroy LeCamus; brothers-in-law Antoine “Tan” Dugas Jr. and wife Dena and Creed Dugas and wife Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude M. Dugas; her siblings Effie Thibodeaux, Grace Fridley, Odette LeCamus, Shelton LeCamus and Skerty LeCamus; and her in-laws Antoine and Emma Dugas Sr.
Serving as pallbearers are Barry Thibodeaux, William M. Hebert, Steve Barras, Cody Thibodeaux, Wesley Senette and Garrett Barras. Honorary pallbearers are Gayle Hebert, Michelle Senette, Sharon Thibodeaux, Leah Thibodeaux, Lisa Hebert, Dean and Brenda Hebert, Mary Margaret Boudreaux, Alyssa Barras, and Stefani Christian, Cody Dale Christian, Hunter and Kinley Senette, Lincoln Thibodeaux, Isabella Christian, and Tan and Creed Dugas.
