Inaugural ‘Wonderful Night on Main’ is Friday

The first-ever “It’s a Wonderful Night on Main” will take place Friday at the Sliman Theater in downtown New Iberia.
“It’s going to be an old-fashioned Christmas party, where we can just celebrate and have fun,” said Lisa Lourd, one of several Parich Foundation board members who helped organize the event.
“We just really all connected and wanted to do something like this. Downtown is so beautiful right now with the lights, and the Sliman is just the perfect place to do this. Mayor Freddie DeCourt is just so on-board with it — he let us use the Sliman free of charge,” Lourd said.
The event includes the big band sound of The Skyliners and a DJ set by Mike Parich Jr.
“We’re all involved in so many things in the community, and there’s no real get together we have — no event where everybody can come together at the end of the year and celebrate,” Parich said.
Tickets are $35. The admission price includes food from local vendors. There also will be a cash bar on site. Once expenses are covered, all proceeds from the ticket sales will be split between the St. Francis Diner and Habitat for Humanity in New Iberia.
“We just figured why not take any money from ticket sales and donate it to two of our favorite charities?” Parich asked.
He said an additional $100 has been donated to Johnny Indest’s Food Net Food Drive, which took place earlier in the month.
Organizers are expecting approximately 180 people, but say they can accommodate up to 200.
“It’s going to be a good, old-fashioned Christmas party,” he said.
Doors open for the event at 7 p.m. For tickets and additional information, call Parich at 380-0065.
