Franklin, Erath win in Lynette Viator Memorial

ST. MARTINVILLE — Alex Mandeville had 13 points and Kenan Tauriac added 10 as New Iberia Senior High advanced to the semifinals of the St. Martinville Senior High Holiday Shootout with a 50-30 win over host St Martinville Thursday.

Jaqualon Lovette added 8 points and Jaquandrick Lovette and Xavier Smith each had 6 points for the Yellow Jackets, who held SMSH to 11 second-half points in taking the win. NISH will play Cecilia today at 6:30 p.m. in the semifinals. The tournament finals are set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Trayvion Marshall led SMSH with 11 points but no other playerd had more than 6 points for the Tigers.

St. Martinville plays Patterson today at 2 p.m. with the winner advancin to the fifth-place game Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Westgate 67, J.S. Clark 50

Deondre Spencer scored 8 of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter as Westgate beat J.S. Clark in the consolation quarterfinals of the SMSH Holiday Shootout Thursday.

Keydrain Calligan added 11 points and Keyvie Eddie chipped in 10 for the Tigers, who outscored Clark 45-23 in the second half to break open a tied game at halftime.

Demarcus Fuggitt led J.S. Clark with 16 points and Dwight Joseph added 12 points.

Westgate plays in the consolation semifinals against Breaux Bridge, a 75-54 winner over Avoyelles, today at 12:30 p.m.

Peabody 83, St. Martinville II 50

Kyron Gibson had a game-high 29 points as Peabody advanced to the semifinals of the St. Martinville Holiday Shootout with a win over St. Martinville’s B team Thursday.

Dwight Simon added 10 for the Warhorses, who blew open the game by outscoring SMSH 26-9 in the third quarter.

Peabody will face Tioga, a 49-45 winner over Lake Charles College Prep,  in the semifinals today at 5 p.m.

SMSH will play LCCP today at 3:30 p.m.

Yuletide Classic 

Vermilion Catholic 67, Catholic High 36

Kelli Frith had 12 of her 14 points in the second quarter as Vermilion Catholic pulled away from Catholic High in the opening round of the Vermilion Catholic Yuletide Classic Thursday.

Jay Demouchet added 12 points for the Lady Eagles, who advance to the tournament semifinals to play Gueydan today at 8 p.m.

Madison Bienvenu led CHS with 19 points. The Lady Panthers dropped into the consolation bracket and will play Kaplan today at 10 a.m. today for the right to play in the consolation bracket finals Saturday at 10 a.m.

Delcambre 54, Loreauville 31

Chloe LeBlanc had 18 points, including four 3-pointers, and Tayah Lewis added 16 as Delcambre blew past Loreauville Thursday in girls’ bracket play at the Vermilion Catholic Yuletide Classic.

Karlie Crochet finished with 6 points and Ali Rae Falgout and Amalie Bouton each had 5 points for the Lady Panthers, who outscored LHS 16-5 in the third quarter to pull away for the win. CHS will play Erath in the consolation bracket semifinals today at 1 p.m.

Emma Chambers led Loreauville with 11 points.

Lafayette Christian 75, Erath 18

Sasha Rudd had 16 points and Bre Porter added 12 as Lafayette Christian jumped out to a 22-4 first quarter lead and cruised to a win over Erath late Tuesday night.

Fourteen different players had at least 2 points for LCA, which led 39-8 at halftime and 56-12 at the end of the third quarter.

Lexi Gisclair had 8 points and Courtney Dubois added 7 for the Lady Bobcats, who play Delcambre today at 1 p.m. in the consolation semifinals.

Boys

West St. Mary 63, Covenant Christian 54

Daylon Richard had 16 points and Oshay Phillips added 14 as West St. Mary beat Covenant Christian 63-54 Thursday in the opening round of the VC Yuletide Classic.

Tylun Druilhet added 10 for the Wolfpack, who jumped out to a 20-12 first quarter lead and held on for the win.

Dakari Johnson led Covenant with a game-high 33 points.

WSM will play Marksville today at 5:30 p.m. in the tournament semifinals. The finals are Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
