Alvin Johnson

A Memorial service will be held for Alvin Johnson, 61, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Fletcher Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Fondal Sr. officiating.

A resident of Winnfield Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Winnfield, he passed away on Wednesday December 27, 2017, at Christus Saint Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of service.

He was a former member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Olivier,  where he served on the trustee board and was a member of the choir, singing his favorite song, “On Time God.”  In addition, he was a volunteer for Saint Francis Diner for seventeen years. 

He leaves to cherish his memory, one brother Arthur Johnson of New Iberia; one nephew Troy Johnson of Abbeville; two nieces Cassandra Tribune of Austin, Texas and Stacey Friedie of New Iberia; great-nieces; great-nephews; his caregiver Betty Frelow; along with  a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Home, 609 West Admiral Doyle Drive, New Iberia, LA 70560.
