A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted for Shirley Breaux LeBlanc, 94, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, with Father William Blanda officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday January 2, 2018, from 5 p.m. until 9 pm with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Evangeline Funeral Home. The Funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.

Shirley B. LeBlanc was born in Franklin. She moved to New Iberia to work at the old Dauterive Hospital. She met her husband, Huntz Henry LeBlanc, and they spent 48 years together until the time of his death.

She was a devoted wife and mother. Shirley worked at Mt. Carmel High School for many years. She also donated her time at the St. Francis Garage Sale and Diner for 28 years. She and her husband were active in the local senior citizens organization including many Senior Olympic competitions. Both she and her husband loved to dance and were members of the Cajun Dancers.

Mrs. LeBlanc is survived by two daughters Claudia and Annette LeBlanc; two grandchildren Sarah and Jason Thomas; her son-in-law Randy Thomas; and two sisters Gertrude Oubre of New Iberia and Hazel Huffman of Franklin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Huntz H. LeBlanc; daughter Darlene L. Thomas; and her parents, Armand Breaux and Clodia Dugas Breaux; brothers Daniel, Chester, Jessie Sr., Olden and Lloyd (Preacher) Breaux; one sister Lunez B. Robicheaux; and several nephews and a niece.

Pallbearers will be Jason Thomas, Keith Breaux, Mark Breaux, Calvin Robicheaux, Tate Oubre and Jean Paul Lamison. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Thomas, Ricky Oubre, Steve Breaux and Eli Stone.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or your local Alzheimer’s Organization.
