Glenda Jean Batiste

A  Home-going celebration will be held for Glenda Jean Batiste, 54, the former Glenda Jones, at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Fletcher Funeral Home with Rev. J.T. Collins officiating.

She will await the resurrection in Mount Zion Baptist Church #2 Cemetery, 7711 Daspit Road, Loreauville, LA 70552.

Visitation will be held Saturday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of service.

A resident of New Iberia, she passed away at 8:35 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at her residence.

She leaves in God’s care her two sons, Brandon Jones and Shannon Jones (Crystal); one daughter, Princess Jones; one brother, O’Neil Jones Sr.(Sheral), all of New Iberia; one sister, Cynthia Jones of Port Arthur, Texas; a special friend, Kristine Celestine; numerous grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Joseph Jean Batiste; one son, Joseph Jones; her parents, Harrison McKinley Jones Sr. and Isabelle Jones; and one sister, Marie Polite.

Active pallbearers will be O’Neil Jones Jr., Kenneth Brown Jr., Wilber Miller, Davoris Garrette, Victor Jones, Akeem Moses and Damien Polite.

Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Moses Sr., Shannon Jones, Brandon Jones Sr., O’Neil Jones Sr., Joseph Jones Sr., Dietrick Williams and Eric James.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Home,  609 W. Admiral Doyle Drive, New Iberia, LA 70560.
