Jefferson Island — Funeral Services will be held for Mr. Jimmy P. Bourque Sr., 66, at David
Funeral Home Chapel, located at 1101 Trotter Street, on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at 8 p.m. with Dr. James Hodges officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at 7 p.m. with the Men’s Rosary Group.
Visitation for Mr. Jimmy Bourque Sr. will be held on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, beginning at 2 p.m. at David Funeral Home until the time of service.
A native of Jefferson Island and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Bourque passed away at 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Mr. Bourque was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a commercial fisherman for over 20 years, and retired from the oilfield two years ago. He was an avid New Orleans Saints fan since their beginning and never missed a game. He also played and coached softball for over 25 years.
Mr. Bourque is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Theriot Bourque; one son, Jimmy P. Bourque Jr and wife April of New Iberia; daughters Jenny Buteaux and husband Louis of New Iberia and Jaime Arabie and husband Danny of New Iberia; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Goldie Wallis, Brenda Suire and husband Stanley, and Sandra Borton.
He was preceded in death by his parents Victorian and Norma Gary Bourque; his paternal grandparents Louis Lawless and Eva Dore Bourque; his maternal grandparents Leonce and Eve Viator Gary; brothers David Wayne Bourque Sr. and Randy James Bourque, Sr; his sister, Debra Ann Collins; and his brother-in-law, Joseph Wallis.
Serving as Honory Pallbearers will be Jimmy Bourque Jr., Brian Suire, Shane Suire, Todd Babineaux, Joseph Wallis Jr., David Bourque Jr., Randy Bourque Jr., Louis Buteaux Jr. Daniel Arabie, Dex Buteaux, Jake Charpentier, Brennan Bourque and Bentley Bourque.
