Jeanette Thibodeaux Kern went to her heavenly home on Friday, December 22, 2017, surrounded by her children at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Patterson. Jeanette loved sharing the good news of her Savoir Jesus Christ with everyone she met.
Jeanette was born January 20, 1943, in New Iberia. On September 9, 1962, Jeanette married her husband, Jerome Kern. Jerome and Jeanette moved to Patterson where they raised their six children. They later moved to Baton Rouge and enjoyed many years there.
Jeanette’s survivors include her children Michelle Grimball and husband, Keith, of Patterson, Kim Ford of Sorrento, Mark Kern and wife, Jessica Driskill Kern, of Thibodaux and Leslie Deroche and husband, Tommy, of Chackbay; her brother James Thibodeaux of New Iberia; her sister Gayle T. Pellerin of New Iberia; five grandchildren, Bridgette G. Taylor and husband, Gary, Samantha Ford, Matthew Ford, Courtney Kern and Sara Kern; two great-grandchildren Lainey Claire Taylor and Ayden Ross Taylor; as well as a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her birth parents, Clarence and Esteinnie Thibodeaux; parents, Mavis Thibodeaux Comeaux Guidry and Horace Comeaux; a sister Lee Freas; her husband of 46 years, Jerome Kern Sr.; a daughter, Bridgette Kern; a son, Jerome Kern Jr.; and a grandson, Ross Grimball.
A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 1 p.m. at The Patterson Protestant Cemetery where Jeanette and Jerome will be laid to rest near their children Bridgette and Jerome Jr.
A gathering of family and friends will be held following the graveside service at American Legion Post 242, 3600 U.S. 90 in Patterson, to celebrate Jeanette’s “Going Home.”
