A deputy with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office has been relieved of his duties following a weekend arrest.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum announced in a statement Tuesday morning that on Sunday, Feb. 4, patrol deputy Dustin Crabtree (who was off duty at the time) was arrested by Louisiana State Police for operating a vehicle while intoxicated in Terrebonne Parish.
According to Anslum, Crabtree was placed on suspension without pay pending an internal investigation but then was terminated by the sheriff’s office on Tuesday.
“Our badge is a symbol of the trust the people of St. Mary Parish have placed in us,” Anslum said in a statement. “We, as law enforcement officers, must maintain a high level of integrity. When a law enforcement officer breaks that trust, they must be held accountable for their decisions.”
