On Sunday, February 11, 2018, Linda Goodyear, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and loyal friend to all who knew her passed away in her home surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 71. 

Linda will be forever remembered by her loving children Layne and his wife, Kristen, of Boston, Massachusetts and Lance and his wife, Courtney, of Opelousas; her brother Bob Goodyear and his wife, Mary Anne, of New Roads; her nephews which she lovingly referred to as “her boys” Darryl Viator, Danny Viator Jr., Marc Magee, John Patrick Goodyear, Bob Allen “Al” Goodyear Jr., Ralph Goodyear, Brent Goodyear, Shelly Goodyear, Mark Goodyear and John Goodyear. She will forever watch over her grandchildren and the joys of her life Leighton Copell, Avery Copell, Charlotte Florence Copell and Genevieve Copell; her beautiful niece Tiffany Goodyear Guidry; and great-nieces whom she loved and considered grandchildren as well Amber Viator, Hannah Viator, Veronica Viator, Katherine Viator and Allison Viator.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Doras Warren “D.W.” Goodyear and Florence Mae Ruch Goodyear; her brother Warren Goodyear; and her twin sister and life-long friend Leta Goodyear Chambers.

Linda was a native of Conroe, Texas but called New Iberia her home for over 50 years. Linda proudly served her community with the Sheriff’s Department in numerous capacities for over 25 years. She was active in the D.A.R.E. program for over 15 years and was commissioned as an agent with the Custom’s Department in 1989. Her greatest pleasure in life was the time she spent with her loving grandchildren and growing beautiful plants and flowers as only she could do.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Linda Goodyear on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Gregory Chauvin as celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018, from 9 a.m. until 12:20 p.m. at David Funeral Home, 1101 Trotter Street, New Iberia.  A Recitation of the Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 10:30 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Layne Copell, Lance Copell, Darryl Viator, Danny Viator Jr., Bob Allen “Al” Goodyear Jr. and John Patrick Goodyear.

Honorary pallbearers will be Marc Magee, Emma Judice, Yvette Delcambre and Joann Jacobs.

David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of the arrangements.
