CHS closes out with win over Franklin

Kolbe Chretien had 15 points as Catholic High closed out the regular season with a 54-49 win over Franklin Thursday.

Javion Willis added 14 points and Kaiden Burgess had 10 points.

The Panthers finished the regular season with a 17-13 record and 7-5 in district. As of Wednesday, CHS was 12th in the latest unofficial LHSAA power rankings. If that seed holds, CHS would play the fifth seed in the playoffs, which is currently Isidore Newman.

Travis Zeno led Franklin (14-14, 8-4) with a game-high 22 points . Zy’Quan Webber added 10 points.

The Hornets were 21st in Wednesday’s power rankings. If that seed holds, Franklin would travel to the No. 12 seed in the first round, currently East Feliciana.

ESA 54, Westminster Christian 47

CADE — Danny Ahluwalia led a trio of ESA players in double-figures as the Falcons beat Westminster Christian Academy Thursday.

Ahluwalia had 19 points, Mark Dibbs added 16 points and Tucker Arkin chipped in 10 points for the Falcons, who jumped out to a 13-7 first quarter lead and survived a fourth quarter rally from the Crusaders (12-15) for the win.

ESA improved to 19-17 overall with the win and closes out the regular season today at home against North Vermilion.
