A Homegoing Celebration will be held for Zula Mae Simon, 81, at 10 a.m. Saturday at Church of Jesus Christ in New Iberia, with Reverand Joseph Noah officiating.
She will await the resurrection in The Church of Jesus Christ of New Iberia Family Cemetery in Freetown.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday at the church from 8 a.m. until time of service.
A resident of New Iberia, she passed at 7:20 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018, at her residence.
Zula was a former member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Freetown. She was also a graduate of Jonas Henderson high School and Southern University.
She leaves to cherish her fond memory, two brothers Harold Jones, Sr. (Lois) of New Iberia and John B. Jones (Donna Mills) of Baton Rouge; one godson Brannon Francis of New Iberia and a host of relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Simon and Leona Lyons; and a brother Howard Batiste.
Active pallbearers are Phillip Lewis, Raymond Martin Sr., Raymond Martin Jr., Cornell Nezzett Jr., Gerald Spencer and Brandon Francis.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Home 609 W. Admiral Doyle Drive New Iberia, LA 70560.
