A New Iberia woman has been arrested for Medicaid Welfare Fraud.
Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry announced Wednesday morning the arrests of two people for Medicaid Welfare Fraud — Desiree Olivier of New Iberia being one of the two.
Olivier, 27, was arrested on two counts of Medicaid Fraud as she allegedly submitted falsified timesheets and services logs for overlapping services on two clients which amounted to $674.12 paid by the Medicaid program for services not rendered.
The other individual arrested was Brian Joseph, 54, of New Orleans for four counts of fraud.
“Welfare fraud not only jeopardizes resources from our most needy but it also steals from our taxpayers,” Landry said. “From provider fraud to recipient fraud, all Medicaid fraud is wrong; and I will continue to do all that I legally can to stop it.”
Joseph and Olivier were both arrested by the Louisiana Department of Justice’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
“My MFCU frequently relies on the public’s help to expose criminals so I once again ask the public for their assistance,” added Landry. “Please report Medicaid fraud and abuse or neglect in residential care facilities by calling 888-799-6885 or visiting www.AGJeffLandry.com.”
