NECOTOWN — A Home-going celebration for Geneva Fleander Davis, 71, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at St. Thomas Baptist Church, 4704 Parish Road 208, New Iberia, (Necotown). Pastor Elijah Alexander will officiate the service. 

Interment will follow in the St. Thomas Church Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church until the commencement of the service.

Geneva was born on February 22, 1947, to the union of the late Alton Fleanders Sr. and Geneva Socco Fleanders in Napoleonville. As a young woman she married the late Joseph Davis and they shared their lives together here in New Iberia. She was a faithful member of St. Thomas Baptist Church until her health prevented her from active participation in church activities.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by four siblings, Barbara Fleanders, Sarah Fleanders, Zenobia Crosby and Albertha Londa. Geneva passed on to eternal rest on Saturday, March 24, 2018, here in New Iberia with her niece Ashley at her side, who cared for her during her illness. 

Geneva leaves to celebrate her life and cherish many pleasant memories with her 10 siblings, Ella (Lloyd) Johnson and Anderson Fleanders, both of Napoleonville, Anna (Lonnie) Thompson and Lisa (Gus) Murphy, both of Thibodaux, Alton Fleanders Jr. of Jeanerette, Leonard Fleanders of New Iberia, Ernest (Mary) Fleanders of St. Martinville, Minerva Fleanders of Lafayette and Audrey Gilford of Boutte and Moses (Dorothy) Fleanders of Labadieville; a special niece and caregiver, Ashley (Ronald) Murphy-Jackson of New Iberia; two goddaughters, Latroya Davis and Michelle Fleanders; many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
