LaToya Jenee Derouen Volter

Gone from our sight, but never our memories … Gone from our touch, but never our hearts.

A home-going celebration will be held for LaToya Jenee Derouen Volter, 38, at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Fletcher Funeral Home in New Iberia. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor David Sampy of Faith Cathedral will officiate. Interment will follow at St. James Baptist Church Cemetery in Jeanerette.  

LaToya was a native and resident of New Iberia.  A beautiful soul, LaToya unexpectedly passed away at 5:43 a.m. Sunday, April 1, 2018, after a brief illness.    

LaToya loved her family and was a loyal and devoted person. She will forever be remembered for her love of family and friends. LaToya will be missed by those who enjoyed her friendship, humor and kindness.  

She leaves to cherish her memories: Her husband, Jeremy Volter of New Iberia; Her son Dalton James Leon Jr. of New Iberia; two step-daughters, Janiyah Amarie Volter and Elizabeth Mary Jane Boudreaux; three sisters, LaCreisha Alexis, Angelica Derouen, and LaTasha Boutte all of New Iberia; three brothers, Richard Derouen III of New Iberia, Trumaine Derouen of Saint Martinville and LaChristopher Martin of Houston; her godparents Jessica Francis and David Lee Derouen; two godchildren, Ayana Derouen and Kaiya Murdock and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends whom all loved her dearly.

She reunites in glory with her mother, Jennifer Francis Derouen; her father, Richard Derouen Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Thomas Francis and Eola Solomon Francis; her paternal grandparents, Richard Derouen and Mary Lee James Derouen; and one niece, Mariah Derouen.

Serving as active pallbearers will be family and friends.
