Juanita Crofton Rochon

A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Juanita C. Rochon, 85, the former Juanita Crofton at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018, at St. Edward Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Vu, Celebrant.

She will await the resurrection at St. Edward Roman Catholic Church Cemetery. 

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

A resident of New Iberia, (the Olivier community), she passed at 2:25 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Iberia Medical Center. 

She accepted Christ as her Savior and was a longtime member of the St. Edward/St. Jude Catholic Church Parish.

She leaves in God’s care, three sons, Bernard Rochon Jr. (Deanna) of El Paso, Texas, Steven Rochon (Leatha) Rochon and Cedric J. Rochon Sr. of New Iberia; five daughters, Elizabeth R. Thomas of Lafayette, Laura J. Joseph (Lester Sr.) of Houston, Martha J. Thomas (Wilfred), Lydia R. Jacobs and Jeanelle R. Greene of New Iberia; two foster children she loved as her own, Willie Saulsberry and James Joseph Broussard; two aunts, Minister Sarah S. Conway and Annie Mae S. Fondal both of Morbihan; 29 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Rochon Sr.; two sons, Randy W. Rochon and Edison J. Rochon; her parents, Clarence Crofton Sr. and Mamie Simon Crofton; one brother, Clarence Crofton Jr.; grandchildren Lester Joseph Jr., Dustin S. Thomas, Dragus D. Rochon and Edith T. Weathers; and three great-grandchildren Jason Rochon, II, Rachel Rochon and Christon B. Butler.

Active pallbearers are Andrius Vitto, Kavery Greene, Chad Joseph, Marcus Thomas, Rev. Carroll Crofton and Lawrence Perro.

Honorary pallbearers are Bernard Rochon Jr., Steven Rochon, Cedric J. Rochon, Lester Joseph Sr., and Wilfred Thomas.
