A Home-going Celebration will be held for Walter Paul Broussard, 78, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in New Iberia with Pastor Mark Lewis, officiating.
Entombment will follow at Mount Calvary Baptist Church Memorial Park Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will begin Saturday at the funeral home at 7 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and resume at the church 9 a.m. until time of service.
A native of Loreauville and resident of New Iberia, he passed at 9:57 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church No. 1 in Loreauville where he served as a Deacon. He also served in the U.S. Army for 10 years, having been honorably discharged. In addition, he was employed by Texaco for 30 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Debra Livingston Broussard of New Iberia; two sons Brentley Paul Broussard (Bethany) of Broussard, Brian Broussard and Pamela Broussard VanWright (Jeffery) of Port Arthur, Texas; one sister Julia “Marie” Tillman of New Iberia, nineteen grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Broussard Sr. and Harriet Gardner Broussard; one son Randall Broussard; one daughter Lavelva Broussard and two brothers John Broussard and James “J.B.” Broussard.
Active Pallbearers are: Ernest Dorsey III, Greg Bernard, Sheamichael Williams, Jeffery VanWright, Jason Howard, Derrick Paloade and Earl Jackson Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Members of the Friends Club, Brian Broussard, Brentley Paul Broussard, Albert “Al” Broussard, Raymond Broussard, Alfred Phillips, James Culbert, David Jefferson, Joseph Porter, Riley Karson Broussard and Dale Jackson.
