LOREAUVILLE — For the first few innings, it was as if Loreauville was just taking some routine batting practice.

In the first two innings of Tuesday’s playoff game against Beekman Charter, the Tigers batted around the lineup twice, scoring 14 runs as eight of the hitters in the lineup either got a hit or got on base by walk or error.
No. 5 Loreauville would easily advance to the Class 2A regional round with a 17-0 mercy rule victory.
“I liked how we came out and stuck with our approach,” Loreauville coach Robert Segura said. “Our philosophy is put pressure on the opponent. That is our philosophy and we did that today.”
A’Zyrian Alexander started off the barrage of hitting with a single that bounced over the head of the first baseman. After Caleb Washington was hit by a pitch, Michael Latulas loaded the bases with a single into shallow left field.
Shajuan Nora kept it going with a RBI single as the Tigers would score six runs on five singles and two errors in the frame.
The second inning it was more of the same.

Washington led off the inning by drawing a walk and Latulas then blasted a pitch from Beekman’s Ryan Chain over the left field fence. The Tigers would go on to add six more runs in the frame.
Loreauville had multiple hitters with three hits or more including Alexander, Latulas, Nora, Rhett Viator and Dale Sonnier, who went a perfect 4-for-4.
“When you get to the playoffs there is no score that is safe,” Segura said. “We treat every inning as if the score is still 0-0.”
While Loreauville’s bats were teeing off, Washington shut out Beekman (11-16) as he scattered two hits, striking out four in three innings of work.
Loreauville (19-11) will now turn its attention to hosting the winner of No. 12 Lake Arthur and No. 21 South Plaquemines in a best-of-three series this weekend.
“I got to figure out who our opponent is tonight,” Segura said. “If you want to move on to the next round you can’t look past anyone. Whoever we play they will be good baseball team.”
