A celebration of life service will be held for Johnnie E. Silas on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 1100 Bank Ave. New Iberia.

Johnnie E. Silas, 71, of St. Martinville, passed away on April 19, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. A native of New Iberia, Johnnie spent 30 years in Knoxville, Tennessee, working as a technical engineer. 

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was part of the Elite Navy Drum and Bugle Corps. He was an outstanding percussionist and shared his talent with several musical groups.

Johnnie loved fishing, golfing and being outdoors with nature.

He was survived by his wife, Alesia, of 51 years, daughters Kelly Silas Parman (Brad), and Kim Silas Thorpe, both of Knoxville, Tennessee; grandchildren Zachary Silas, Amy Thorpe and Katie Thorpe, and Syndey Parman and Jada Parman. He is also survived by his siblings Dr. David (Sandi) Silas and Effie Silas.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents Dan Silas and Mary Silas Pommier; his sister Loretta Babin; brother Daniel Silas and granddaughter Heather Silas.
