Iberia’s Household Waste Day scheduled for Saturday

Dedicated fund source to repair roads should be a priority

Iberia Parish Government’s annual Household Waste Day is scheduled for Saturday at the Iberia Parish Courthouse parking lot in the rear corner of Pershing and Providence streets. 

Items that will be accepted include batteries, cell phones fax machines, phone cables, computer cables, laptops, stereos, paint (latex based only, in sealed containers), consumer electronics, telephones, phone systems, security systems, digital cameras, digital video recorders, processors, monitors, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), circuit boards, computer hardware (remove personal information), tires (five per address), DVD movies, video games, game stations, networking equipment, printer/toner cartridges, inkjet cartridges, portable navigation and GPS devices. 

Items that will not be accepted include gasoline, photographic chemicals, mercury thermometers, compressed gas cylinders, ammunition, medical waste, appliances, furniture, stains/oil based paint, chemical cleaners, pool chemicals, leaking containers, asbestos, aluminum cans/plastic/glass, motor oil or antifreeze, turpentine/paint thinner and stripper, radioactive material, medications, copiers, televisions, styrofoam, paper/magazines/cardboard/newspapers, explosive material. 

Collections start at 8:30 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call Iberia Parish Government at 365-8246.
