LOREAUVILLE — A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Joseph James Jeanlouis, 79, at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Loreauville, with Deacon Roland Jeanlouis officiating the mass and Fr. Barry Crochet, Celebrant.
He will await the resurrection at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Loreauville.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Fletcher Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 11:30 a.m. led by the Men’s Rosary Group of New Iberia.
A resident of New Iberia, he passed at 1:15 p.m. at Maison Teche Nursing Center in Jeanerette.
Jim as he was affectionately known as by his family, accepted Christ as his Savior and was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Loreauville. He was a graduate of the Jonas Henderson High School Class of 1958. In addition, he is an honorably discharged Veteran who served in the United States Air Force.
He leaves to cherish his fond memory, three sons Deacon Roland Jeanlouis (Darlene) of Loreauville, Aaron Jackson (Sarah) and Joseph James Jackson (Tessie) of Jeanerette; two sisters Jeanette Alexander (Robert) and Rhona Robinson (Thomas) of Chicago, Illinois; special caregivers Lydia B. Fontenette of New Iberia, Keith Fontenette of St. Martinville, Russell Fontenette Jr., Demarcus Fontenette, Lois F. Jones and Angela F. Landor of New Iberia; seven grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Burgess Jeanlouis and Clementine Castillo Jeanlouis; brothers Nathan Jeanlouis, Oscar Jeanlouis and Alvin Jeanlouis Sr.; sisters Rose Doucette, Mildred Howard, Evelyn Jeanlouis and Florence Mack.
Active Pallbearers are Alvin Jeanlouis Jr., Westley Jeanlouis and Carl Jeanlouis, Rev. Cleveland Jackson Jr., Terrance Charles, and Demarcus Fontenette.
Honorary Pallbearers are Russell Fontenette Jr., Roland Jeanlouis, Aaron Jackson, Joseph Jackson, Gerald Batiste, LJ Armstead and James Broussard.
