ST. MARTINVILLE — A Breaux Bridge man was charged with one count of third-degree rape Friday morning. 

According to St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Ginny Higgins, SMSO deputies responded to a call regarding a possible sexual assault early Friday. Investigators initiated an investigation into the allegations that culminated in the arrest of 48-year-old Johnathan Carter of Breaux Bridge.  Carter was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center following his arrest. No bond has been set.
