Joseph Ray Lovell Sr.

A Catholic Service will be held to honor the life of Mr. Joseph Ray Lovell Sr. at David Funeral Home Chapel at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. Interment will follow at Nativity Mausoleum. Father Ed Degeyter will be the celebrant of the services. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 3 p.m. with a recitation of the Rosary at 11 a.m. 

Mr. Joseph was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 30, 2018, at 6:01 a.m.. He was a native of Erath and lifelong resident of New Iberia. He served our great nation in the Army during WWII. He earned a living working as a data processor and programmer for Cleco for the majority of his career. Some of his hobbies include playing badminton and playing pickle ball. He was a participant in the Senior Olympics and he and his wife loved traveling to compete. He truly had a passion for music and dancing. He loved spending time with his family and friends. His memories will be cherished by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mrs. Odell Theriot Lovell of New Iberia, his daughter Helen Christy and husband, Jack, of Carencro, son Joseph Ray Lovell Jr. of New Iberia, daughter Madeline Angelle and husband, Larry Sr. of New Iberia, daughter Vanessa and husband, Todd, son Mack Lovell Sr. and wife, Dana, of New Iberia, daughter Elaine Bourque of New Iberia, grandchildren Michael Christy, Shannon Christy, Keenan Louviere, Katie Lovell, Tonia Angelle, Aime Medeiros, Melissa Pitre, Christy St. Romain, Lorie Gresham, Larry Angelle Jr., Jacob Angelle, Victoria Angelle, Britni, Brandi, Todd II, Mack Lovell II, Luke Lovell, Cody Bourque, Chelsea Payne, Zachary Bourque, Cydnie Bourque and 14 great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mack and Lucie Broussard Lovell; Lance Lovell, Harry Richard, Henry Richard, Edmay Richard, Mary Tate, Clarence Richard, Madeline Huggins, Mack Lovell Jr., Elda Billiot, Jessica and Tara. 

Upholding the honor of pallbearers will be Mack Lovell II, Luke Lovell, Cody Bourque, Zachary Bourque, Jacob Angelle and Larry Angelle Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Todd II and Keenan Louviere.
