A 24 hour push to raise enough money to supply technology upgrades in the classroom is what St. Edward School is gearing up for and asking for the community’s help to achieve.
St Edward School is participating in the Community Foundation of Acadiana’s South Louisiana Giving Day. How it works is that persons can participate in a 24 hour online giving event by logging onto your personal computer or smartphone and visiting www.SouthLouisianaGivingDay.org and enter St. Edward School then follow the prompts to schedule your donation.
The giving event is to take place Thursday May 10th beginning at midnight.
The school will use funds collected to replace Promethean whiteboards and projectors with new ActivePanel touch displays and the accompanying document cameras.
“This is just a really unique opportunity for giving,” St Edward Principal Karen Bonin said. “Because you get the federal tax deduction and a state tax credit while being philanthropic and giving to a great cause that benefits our children’s education.”
Bonin said the interactive whiteboards currently being used at the school are failing and need replacing.
Interested persons can also logo onto the St Edward School website www.sespandas.com or the St Edward School Facebook page for more information on giving.
