A Mass of Christian burial for Shirley Mae Blaze, 71, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2018, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 108 E. Main Street, New Iberia. Rev. Alexander Albert will serve as the Celebrant.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum.
Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at the church until time of the funeral mass, with the Rosary being recited at 9 a.m.
Shirley was born February 13, 1947, to the union of the late Joseph Blaze and Eunice Derouen Blaze in Segura. She was a devout catholic and was a long time member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her only son Kevin Blaze; one brother Dallas Blaze; her grandparents, Arthur Derouen, Rita Labbe Derouen, Eli Blaze, Aspazie Boutte Blaze and Stella Bastian Blaze; and one niece Ashley Randall. Shirley peacefully passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018, in New Iberia, following a brief illness.
Shirley leaves to cherish precious with her six siblings Edward (Rosalind) Blaze, Martha Mouton, Helen Stewart, and Ruby (Galvanize) Randall, all of New Iberia, Harold (Evelyn) Blaze of Ruther Glen, Virginia and Arthur “Raymond” (Lucille) Blaze of Richmond, Virginia and a host a nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
