ST. MARTINVILLE — One person is dead and another hospitalized after a shooting in St. Martinville Wednesday afternoon. 

St. Martinville Police Chief Ricky Martin said SMPD deputies responded to Bridge Street at about 6 p.m. Wednesday after reports of a shooting in an apartment complex. Upon arrival, the officers found Kendal Livingston and Chosen Washington inside an apartment with gunshot wounds. 

Martin said Washington was pronounced dead at the scene, and Livingston is in stable condition at a local hospital. 

The investigation is ongoing.
