A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church New Iberia, for Robert G. Guest, 90, who passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018, at his home. 

A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from Noon until 1:30 p.m. on Friday. 

Rev. Keith Landry will be the Celebrant.  

Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia.

A resident of New Iberia for the past 43 years, Robert G. Guest was born in Castile, New York on June 19, 1927, to the late Joseph G. and Naomi Johnson Guest, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He graduated from Houghton College in New York in 1950 with a B.S. in Chemistry. An avid golfer, Robert moved his family to New Iberia in 1974 when he began working in management for Morton Salt, where he retired after 40 years of service. 

Mr. Guest is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carol Chastek Guest; daughters Marcia A. Guest and spouse, Christy LeJeune, of New Iberia, Sandra G. Bacque and husband, Albert, of Mandeville, Debra L. Guest of Baton Rouge, Lisa G. Pharr and husband, Steven, of Alexandria, and Pamela G. Gachassin and husband, Kris, of Katy, Texas; sister Winifred G. Norton of Montoursville, Pennsylvania; grandchildren David P. Bacque and spouse, Heather, Melissa B. Fitzpatrick, Jennifer B. Wylie and spouse, Carlos, Nicole W. Thouin and spouse, Mike, Karlie P. Brister and spouse, Dustin, Kimberly G. Richardson and spouse, Vance, and Katie L. Gachassin; great-grandchildren Syria Mahfouz, Caleb Fitzpatrick, Sydney Bacque and Addison Bacque; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Joanna G. Sisson and Janice Guest; a brother David J. Guest; and a grandson-in-law Wesley Fitzpatrick.

Pallbearers will be Albert Bacque, Kris Gachassin, Kenny LeJeune, Steven Pharr, David Bacque, Carlos Wylie. Honorary pallbearer is Caleb Fitzpatrick. 

The family wishes to thank Angel Harris, Karen Gage, Kirsten Davis and Glenda Green for the loving care given to “Mr. Bob.”
