Eloy was born on November, 24, 1962 and passed away at his New Iberia residence on Friday, May 11, 2018.

Eloy, a native of New Iberia, loved nature. Like his grandfather, he loved to fish and plant things. His apartment had a very pretty flower garden of his own creation, all around the little porch with birds and butterflies on his mind. He especially liked preparing nectar for the annual visitation of hummingbirds. Along with that were very special little artificial flowers that moved continually to attract these birds. Eloy has the proverbial “green thumb.”

Creativity was Eloy’s strong suit. He was considered a master painter, with a large portfolio of the homes and businesses he painted. He started very young and clients were surprised at what he could do as young as he was. During those days he could command the same price which painters who were older and had more experience than he did. His father and grandfather also did painting. One could say that maybe it was “in his genes.”

Another great love of Eloy’s was animals. Very recently he was given two baby kittens. When asked why he wanted them, he replied he wanted to put them on his neck and listen to them purr. He needed the ministry that an animal could provide. He had an understanding of the therapeutic value of animals.

Eloy felt the most important thing that he ever did was to conduct Bible studies with prisoners.

Survivors include his mother, Fern Chesson Doré Davidson; his son Elijah Matthew Doré; his grandson Saige Matthew Doré; his brother Eddie Doré of Sugarland, Texas; Eloy’s former wife, Debbie LeBlanc Doré Bayard; and his aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is also survived by his step family Jack Davidson Jr., Nancy Davidson Richard of New Iberia and Connie Davidson Migues and Lisa Davidson Hernandez of Spring, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eloy J. Doré Sr.; his paternal grandparents Eddie and Naira Doré; his maternal grandparents, Hubert and Ester Chesson; and his uncles Lynn Roy Chesson and Brian Chesson.

Eloy is also survived by his special friends Wayne Latiolais, Anthony Meyers and Michael Brooks, all of New Iberia.
