According to CHS volleyball coach Gary Westcott, the Lady Panthers played an eight-week season and advanced to the Gold Bracket Finals with seniors Madeline Lipari, Bryn Bourgeois and Caroline LeLeux.

When the state tournament came around at the end of the season, CHS elected to play in the Silver Division due to seniors being on senior trips and Westcott had to play three new players who had never played sand volleyball.

Madison Bienvenu and Abigail Richthofen played in a round robin doubles format and went undefeated to win the team title for CHS.

Bienvenu and Richthofen beat teammates Cameron Schwing and Anna Angelle in the finals while Marlie Rae Westcott and Gonsoulin came out second in the consolation bracket.

Teams advancing to the state tournament in the Silver Division along with Catholic High were Parkview Baptist, Runnels Academy and Catholic High of Pointe Coupee.

It was the first time for Richthofen, Gonsoulin and Marlie Rae Westcott’s playing sand volleyball as they replaced the three seniors on senior trips.

Sand volleyball team members included Gonsoulin, Schwing, Westcott, Richthofen, Bienvenu, Lipari, Bourgeois and LeLeux.
