Newly appointed director for the Acadiana Regional Airport Megan McLellan, who introduced herself at the Iberia Parish Airport Authority meeting Thursday afternoon, provided a report of her activity for the past month.
During her first month at the position, McLellan said she has been welcomed warmly by both staff members and people in the community as she settles into her role.
The director also said the ARA recently completed its FAA Part 139 inspection. The inspection concluded Wednesday, she said, and the Airport Authority is expected to receive results from the FAA on Monday.
“The staff has been awesome in every way,” McLellan said.
“The airport was looking cleaner than a golf course.”
There also were optimistic numbers in terms of traffic in the airport in the past several weeks.
During the month of May, McLellan reported that Bristow had the highest count per year at 669 leaving the airport terminal.
So far this year, 2,467 people who have used the airport terminal.
In other business, the Airport Authority board voted to establish new procedures to its hangars at LeMaire Memorial Airport in Jeanerette that would update lease approvals for the hangars.
Legal counsel Dean Wattigny said under state law the leases for the hangars had to be bid out and options had to be established in the lease.
The board voted unanimously for the changes.
