PIERCING THOUGHTS: ‘Color Me Posh,’ 2 new comics & more coming your way

Published 6:00 am Friday, June 15, 2018

We’re always looking for new ways to keep you informed and connected and to celebrate everything that makes this area so special. Recently, we’ve been scouting out some opportunities to keep you entertained, and we hope you will be excited with our new offerings.

We are thrilled to debut a new feature this Sunday inside our Teche Life section — “Color Me Posh.” This syndicated feature takes one of everyone’s childhood favorites (coloring books) and puts a modern twist on it. Each week a new charming design (this Sunday’s will celebrate Father’s Day) will be printed on the bottom of the Teche Life front page for both adults and children to enjoy. Whether you like to color with markers or crayons or colored pencils, keep them handy because you will have a new “Color Me Posh” each and every Sunday.

The Daily Iberian also is proud to announce that we have added the works of two new extremely talented artists to our daily comics page. The acclaimed comic strips “Wallace the Brave” by Will Henry and “Pearls Before Swine” by Stephan Pastis will debut in the Monday, June 18, edition of The Daily Iberian.

“Wallace the Brave” follows a quirky but strong family in the quaint town of Snug Harbor and at the center of the adventures of Wallace. “Pearls Before Swine,” meanwhile, is a witty comic strip about two friends: a megalomaniacal Rat and his slow-witted friend Pig. We believe that both will be a hit with our readers and you can get to know both artists a little better in the Sunday, June 24, edition of The Daily Iberian in which Teche Life Editor Vicky Branton will have interviews with both artists.

Those aren’t the only new features we have planned. We are so excited to announce that, in the next few months, we will launch a once-a-week society/photo page that will focus on local events and people caught out and about at said local events. The Daily Iberian’s sports department, meanwhile, is looking to expand its college football coverage with more stories on LSU, McNeese and Southern University .

We’re working hard to make your paper more informative and more entertaining. We always value your suggestions, so if you have one please drop me an email at christina.pierce@daily-iberian.com. I promise we will take your ideas very seriously, and thank you for reading us!
