Tessa S. Lewis

A Home-going Celebration will be held for Tessa S. Lewis, 68, the former Tessa Sanders at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Fletcher Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery No. 1 in Peti Tanse.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home until time of service.

A native and resident of New Iberia, She passed at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at her residence.

She was a graduate of Jonas Henderson High School and later attended Southern University in Baton Rouge. She was employed for 32 years by the Iberia Parish School System.

She is survived by three sons Terrance Reginald Lewis II, and Johnathan Lamar Lewis of New Iberia and Wyatt Elliot Lewis of Ladson, South Carolina; four grandchildren Terrance Reed, Jasmine Lewis, Cederro Perkins, and Tawy Perkins; her companion Joseph Bernard Forbes Sr. of New Iberia; three brothers Rodney Rogers of New Orleans, Juan Sanders of Madrid, Spain and Tony; two sisters Sarah Sanders of New Jersey and Tamera Butler of Birmingham, Alabama; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Sanders and Regolia Volter Alexander.

Active Pallbearers will be Terrance Reginald Lewis II, Johnathan Lamar Lewis, and Wyatt Elliot Lewis.
