Spencer catches TD pass in win

OTTAWA — Former Westgate and McNeese State standout Diontae Spencer caught six passes for 82 yards, including a 56 yard touchdown pass in the third quarter, as the Ottawa RedBlacks beat Saskatchewan 40-17 Thursday in the season opener for Ottawa in the Canadian Football League.

Spencer also had four punt returns for 13 yards and a kickoff return for 21 yards for the RedBlacks, which had the opening week bye last week and open the season with a 1-0 record.

Trevor Harris completed 26-of-36 passes for 345 yards with two touchdowns for Ottawa.

 Saskatchewan fell to 1-1 with the loss.

Ottawa plays at Calgary Thursday night.
