Mrs. Richard Stephen Devine

Alix Beth Stelly and Richard Stephen Devine were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony during a Nuptial Mass at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Iberia Friday, June 22, 2018. The Rev. Brian Harrington officiated the 6 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Andrew Stelly of New Iberia. Mrs. Stelly is the former Michele Dauterive. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Henry Schneider of Katy, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Joseph Devine Sr. of Rosebud, Texas. Mrs. Schneider is the former Deborah Morales of Houston.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a romantic ivory-colored lace and Dolce satin gown from Stella York. The gown features a bold lace pattern embellished with clear beading throughout the classic mermaid silhouette and a sweetheart neckline accented perfectly with lace straps worn off the shoulder. The back of the gown features sheer lace detailing with the pattern continuing from the fitted bodice down through the mermaid skirt. The skirt and cathedral train were adorned with a scalloped-lace edging. Her elegant cathedral single-tier veil of tulle was finished with a simple cut edge.

The bride carried a colorful garden-gather bouquet of peach peonies, pink tulips, coral ranunculus, white lisianthus, Queen Anne’s lace and fuschia David Austin English roses accented with salal and Italian ruscus greenery. The bouquet was hand-tied and wrapped with variegated flax leaf. Within the bouquet, she carried her paternal grandmother’s rosary.

The bride was attended by her maids of honor, Allison Marie Boudreaux and Heidi Comeaux Dueitt. Bridesmaids were Aryn Yvonne Dauterive and Kady Clare Dauterive, cousins of the bride; Cynthia Christine Mayeux, Ashley Nelson O’Connor, Brynn A. Byers, Savannah S. Medearis, and Shannon Devine Cass, sister of the groom. Junior bridesmaid was Olivia Nancy Dauterive, cousin of the bride.

Serving as best man was Allen Medearis. Groomsmen were Edward Joseph “E.J.” Devine Sr., father of the groom; Edward Joseph “J.D.” Devine Jr., brother of the groom; Henry Byers, Elliott Anderson, Mark Barta, Blake Sammons, Trey Smith, and Matthew Edward Stelly, brother of the bride. Junior groomsman was Edward Joseph “Trip” Devine III, nephew of the groom.

Flower girls were Ava Grace Dauterive and Abigail Elizabeth Scholz, cousins of the bride. Grant Edward Dauterive, cousin of the bride, served as ring bearer.

Serving as ushers were Robert Barnette and George Harrington.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Rip Van Winkle Gardens. Guests were greeted by a New Orleans jazz ensemble, Kinfolk Brass Band, and Aaron Lane Entertainment provided music for the remainder of the evening.

After a honeymoon trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple will reside in Youngsville.
