DELCAMBRE — A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted for Mrs. Ulysse Paul Lopez, the former Barbara Babin, 70, at 10 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2018, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Buddy Breaux officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. at Evangeline Funeral Home in New Iberia. The funeral home will reopen for visitation at 8 a.m. on Friday until the time of service.
A native of St. Martinville and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Lopez passed away at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Landmark of Acadiana with her family by her side.
Mrs. Lopez was a former food service worker employed by the Iberia Parish School Board for many years. She enjoyed caring and cooking for her family and friends. She also loved being outdoors, especially fishing, going to the casino, playing cards and Bingo. She will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ulysse Paul Lopez of New Iberia; two daughters Michelle Vallot and husband, Todd, of Youngsville and Jody Chevalon and husband, Etienne “Brush”, of New Iberia; one son Joey “Poncho” Lopez and wife, Jamie, of New Iberia; five grandchildren Dusty Vallot and wife, Ashlyn, Tyler Vallot and wife, Katie, Madyson Vallot, Cigi Kappel and husband, Kirk, and Hunter Lopez; three great-grandchildren, Tanner Vallot, Dalton Vallot and Kate Kappel; her mother Margie Fremin Babin of St. Martinville and two sisters Rita Babin Worsham of New Iberia and Debra Champagne of St. Martinville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lovis Babin; granddaughter Abby Lopez and her brother Lewis Babin.
Pallbearers will be Joey “Poncho” Lopez, Hunter Lopez, Todd Vallot, Dusty Vallot, Tyler Vallot and Etienne “Brush” Chevalon.
