Englove “Brother” Collins Sr.

JEANERETTE — Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Englove “Brother” Collins Sr., on Friday, June 29, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Jody Simoneaux officiating. Reading for the service will be proclaimed by Jamie O’Loughlin Derise and Jerrica O’Loughlin. Interment will be at St. John the Evangelist Mausoleum. 

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 28, 2018, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and resume on Friday, June 29, 2018, at 8 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. A Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Thursday at 6 p.m. followed by the Eulogy given by Patricia Doucet.

Mr. Collins was a native of Golden Meadows and a resident of Jeanerette. He passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at 7:10 a.m. at his residence.

Brother was a boat captain for many years even overseas. He was also the owner of several businesses, Lydia Seafood, Cajun Seafood and Norine’s Cajun Kitchen. He loved being with his family. While spending time with his family he enjoyed dancing, singing, playing the accordion, playing cards and of course loved being on the water trolling for seafood.

Englove is survived by his wife of 66 years Norine Rita Derise Collins of Jeanerette; five sons Englove “Kenie” Collins Jr. and wife, Melinda Ann, of Jeanerette, Patrick Collins Sr. and wife, Jo Ellen, of New Iberia, Rene’ Collins Sr. and significant other, Rebecca, of Jeanerette, Perrique Collins and significant other, Thresea, of Jeanerette, Tracy Collins and his wife, Trudy of Jeanerette; son-in-law Jimmy O’Loughlin of Jeanerette and two sisters Eleanor Curol of Delcambre and Dorothy Wiseman of Arizona. He was also survived by thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bragelon and Lydia Lombas Collins; daughter Vanessa O’Loughlin; brother Casey Roy Collins; three sisters Priscilla Leonard, Elda Doucet and Polly Braud and his grandchildren Joshua Collins and Shawn Collins.

Serving as pallbearers will be Englove “Kenie” Collins Jr., Patrick Collins Sr., Rene’ Collins Sr., Perrique Collins, Tracy Collins and Jimmy O’Loughlin.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Michael Derise, Bobby Derise, and Ross Derise.

In lieu of flowers the family request contributions to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
