A Home-going Celebration was held for Mr. Fred George Seriel, Sr. 73, at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Fletcher Funeral Home in New Iberia with Rev. Arthur Lee Alexander officiating.

He will await the resurrection in St. Mark Baptist Church Cemetery in Jeanerette.

A gathering of family and friends began at 8 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home until time of service.

A resident of Jeanerette, he passed at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at his residence.

He was born to the late Wilmer Sereal Sr. and Louise Wesley Sereal.

Fred was affectionately known as “Dee” to those who knew him well. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Linda Seriel of New Iberia and Dawn Seriel of Atlanta; one son, Fred Seriel Jr. of Jeanerette; his sisters, Laura Sereal Jeanlewis and Celestine Johnlewis, both of Jeanerette and Christine (Abraham) Mitchell of New Iberia; his brothers, Benny Sereal, Larry Sereal, Michael Sereal and Willie Sereal, all of Jeanerette; his uncle, Paul Sereal Sr.; his aunts, Louella (Raymond) Lumpkin and Emma Wesley, also of Jeanerette; five sisters-in-law, Clementine Ayro, Odessa Sampay, Paula Hill, Rosemary Sampay and Fabiola Boutte; three brothers-in-law, Russell Boutte, Samuel Hills and Peter Calvin Johnlouis Sr.; one aunt-in-law, Lillie Mae Sereal; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Wilmer Sereal Sr.; his loving wife, Linda Sampay Seriel; two sisters, Louise Sarah R. Hebert and Gennetta Sereal Johnlouis; two brothers, Wilmer Sereal and Wilford Robinson Sr.; one son, Tony Seriel; one uncle, Levy Wesley Sr.; one godchild, Marshal Hebert III; his father-in-law, Richard Sampay Sr.; his mother-in-law, Sunnie Mae Sampay; one aunt, Lillie Mae Sereal and one brother-in-law, Robert Johnlewis Sr.

Active pallbearers are Tony Castle, Jevonte’ Thomas, Breontre’ Thomas, Kenneth Gray, Keyshaun Jordan, Jaden Jordan, Robert Johnlewis Jr. and Wilford Robinson Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Johnson Jr., Russell Boutte, Samuel Hills, Peter Calvin Johnlouis Sr., Christopher Johnlewis, Rev. Grady Patterson, Kyle Manuel, Michael Jordan, Paul Sereal Sr., Abraham Mitchell, LeRoy Clavelle, Larry Navy and Ronald Ward.
