The Iberia Parish Council will enter into an executive session to deal with two legal issues at Wednesday’s meeting.
The first involved litigation between Iberia Parish Government and former Iberia Parish President Errol “Romo” Romero, which was filed into the 16th Judicial District Court.
The second involves litigation the Vermilion Parish Police Jury and the Iberia Parish Government.
The council also will vote on a resolution authorizing the execution of a cooperative agreement to support and administer the Louisiana Cooperative Units off-campus starting July 1 and ending on June 30, 2023. The agreement reflects grant funding each year from the parish to the Iberia Parish LSU Cooperative Extension Service Office.
The council will vote on a new interim justice of the peace in Ward 3 (Loreauville area). The opening came after the resignation of Benjamin Hoffpauir, which was effective July 1. Applicants for the job include Chad Hazelwood and Jack Clifton.
In the Iberia Parish finance committee, Councilman Ricky Gonsoulin will introduce a resolution that will create a “Your Iberia Parish Checkbook” to be available on the Iberia Parish Government website.
The meeting is scheduled to be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Iberia Parish Courthouse.
