Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackall presented Life Saving Awards to Deputy Joel Leleux and Cpl. Adam Trahan on Friday.

According to a prepared statement from the IPSO, Leleux and Trahan responded to a call on May 24 in the Iberia Parish Jail where and inmate attempted to take his own life. Deputies found the inmate unresponsive and not breathing and immediately began CPR.  After several minutes the inmate had a pulse and began breathing. The inmate was hospitalized but recovered fully.  

Because of Leleux and Trahan’s quick response and training, a life was saved, Ackal said.
